In response to the national call for enhancing the health literacy of the elderly and to truly pay attention to the cardiovascular health of the elderly group, on June 26th at 13:30, the Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, in collaboration with the Financial Street Community Health Service Center of Xicheng District, Beijing, A public welfare health science popularization lecture with the theme of "Enhancing the Health Literacy of the Elderly" was successfully held at the Cultural Activity Center of Financial Street Sub-district, bringing a feast of health knowledge to the elderly in the jurisdiction.

The Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society has always been committed to improving the prevention and treatment level of cardiovascular diseases among the elderly in China. This time, it has carefully organized a public welfare lecture, aiming to convey professional cardiovascular health care knowledge to more elderly people and enhance their understanding and prevention awareness of cardiovascular diseases. This event was led by Professor Zhao Xueyan, the general director of the Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, and a team of experts from Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, who participated throughout. With their rich clinical experience and profound professional knowledge, they provided strong professional support for the lecture.

At the lecture site, Associate Chief Physician Ye Yunqing gave a presentation on cardiovascular health for the elderly, covering the early symptoms, prevention methods, and key points of daily care for common cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, and arrhythmia. Through in-depth yet easy-to-understand explanations and vivid case analyses, experts have transformed complex medical knowledge into easy-to-understand health advice, enabling elderly friends to understand and remember it firmly. For instance, when explaining the prevention of hypertension, experts elaborated on the significance of lifestyle adjustments such as a balanced diet, moderate exercise, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol intake, and encouraged the elderly to actively practice them in their daily lives.

During the interactive Q&A session, the audience actively raised questions and sought professional advice on their own health issues. The experts listened patiently and answered in detail, providing personalized health guidance based on the specific conditions of each elderly person, which won rounds of applause from the audience present. The audience on the spot said, "Such a lecture is so practical. Before, I was confused about many health issues. Today, after listening to the expert's explanation, I suddenly felt more at ease. I hope more such activities can be held in the future!"

Professor Zhao Xueyan stated that in the future, the branch will continue to leverage its professional advantages, integrate more resources, and carry out various forms of health science popularization public welfare activities in communities, bringing high-quality medical services and health knowledge to the elderly, contributing to the realization of the "Healthy China" strategic goal, and helping the elderly group enjoy a healthier and more beautiful life in their later years. The successful holding of this public welfare lecture not only enhanced the health literacy of the elderly in the Financial Street area, but also accumulated valuable experience for the Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society to further carry out health science popularization work.
